TERMS & CRITERIA
In memorial tribute to Mr. E.V. Caton, his friends and former colleagues have established a scholarship fund at The University of Manitoba. Mr. Caton was long prominent in the field of electrical distribution and power systems.
This scholarship shall first be awarded following the December series of examinations in 1973, and shall initially have an annual value of $100. If further contributions to the fund and interest earnings permit, the value of the annual scholarship may be increased. Beginning in the spring of 1986 the award shall be increased to $300.
This scholarship shall be awarded to the student who:
(1) has successfully completed a full program in the first term of the fourth year in Electrical Engineering of The University of Manitoba;
(2) achieves the highest standing in the course in Electrical Energy Systems (currently numbered ECE 4300);
(3) remains registered for a full study program in the second term of the fourth year program in Electrical Engineering of The University of Manitoba.
In the event of a tie between or among students in the course in Electrical Energy Systems (currently numbered ECE 4300), the selection committee shall first consider as a tiebreaking device the eligible students' grade-point average on the first term of the fourth year program in Electrical Engineering.
The selection committee for this scholarship shall be named by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of The University of Manitoba and shall include the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and at least one other member of that department.
