Adam Sandilands Bursary In Engineering

An endowment fund has been established in honour of Adam Sandilands (B.Sc.E.E./34) to provide an annual bursary in the Faculty of Engineering. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this fund. Adam Sandilands was a first generation Canadian, born in Winnipeg in 1910 to parents who had immigrated from Scotland. Though he was obliged to leave high school before graduation, he persevered with night school, obtained his diploma, and went on to study engineering at the University of Manitoba. Beginning in 2007 the bursary, valued at the available annual interest, will be offered to a student who:

(1) is enrolled in any year of study in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba;
(2) has achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5;
(3) is a permanent resident or first-generation Canadian;
(4) has demonstrated financial need on the standard University of Manitoba bursary application form.

The selection committee shall be the Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards Committee of the Faculty of Engineering.
