TERMS & CRITERIA
In memory of her friend, James F. Snidal, Joan McConnell is offering an annual gift to support female students in Engineering at the University of Manitoba. James Snidal, B.Sc. (C. Eng, 1977), enjoyed a successful career as a hydrological / environmental engineer in western Canada. He served on various University committees including the Board of Governors from 1978-80 and was UMSU President in 1976-77. Mr. Snidal was known for his support of women in Engineering.
An annual bursary of approximately $500 (or the amount available in the account at the time of disbursement) shall be awarded to a female student who:
(1) is currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering programme;
(2) demonstrates the highest financial need according to the standard University of Manitoba bursary application form.
In the case where assessed financial need levels are approximately equal, as determined by the selection committee, preference shall be given to students in the Environmental Engineering Option in the Civil Engineering programme. Should additional funds become available, more bursaries may be added.
The selection committee shall be the Faculty of Engineering Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards Committee.
