Award Information
Name:
University Gold Medal in Engineering / Program Medals
Description:
UNIVERSITY GOLD MEDAL
The University Gold Medal shall be awarded to the graduating student who has achieved the highest degree grade point average (minimum 3.8) for the entire program with no distinction as to full- or part-time status. The University Gold Medal will be awarded at spring Convocation to the student who has completed that program in the past academic year (including October and February graduands).

Tie-Breaking Mechanism
In the event of a tie based upon the criteria described above, the following mechanism will be used to break the tie: (1) the degree grade point average is to be calculated to the fourth decimal place, (2) preference is to be given to the student who has a higher proportion of “A+”s and “A”s in a total program; (3) preference is to be given to students who have taken the largest number of credit hours. If the tie still persists, the Faculty of Engineering Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards Committee, along with any others appointed by the Dean, will meet to select the recipient.
