Alex and Kirsten Gerrard, and their immediate family, have established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba. Beginning in the 2016-17 year, the scholarship will rotate each year between the Faculty of Engineering, the I.H. Asper School of Business (2017-18), the Faculty of Arts (2018-2019) and the Faculty of Education (2019-2020).
The purpose of the scholarship is to reward academic achievement and encourage promising students to pursue further courses in their area of study.
Each year, the available annual interest will be used to offer one scholarship to an undergraduate student who:
(1) is enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in their second year of study in the applicable faculty or school;
(2) has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5
The Director of Financial Aid and Awards (or designate) shall name the selection committee for this award.
The Board of Governors of the University of Manitoba has the right to modify the terms of this award if, because of changed conditions, it becomes necessary to do so. Such modification shall conform as closely as possible to the expressed intention of the donor in establishing the award.
