Jeff Kushner and Randall McGinnis Scholarship
Mr. Jeff Kushner and Dr. Randall McGinnis have established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba with a gift of $30,000. The purpose of the fund is to recognize and encourage LGBT undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering.

Each year, beginning in 2016-17, the available annual interest will be used to offer one scholarship to the University of Manitoba undergraduate student who:

(1) has self-declared as LGBT on an approved University of Manitoba supplementary scholarship application;
(2) is enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba;
(3) has completed a minimum of 36 credit hours:
(4) has achieved a minimum DGPA of 3.0;
(5) has demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on community service.

Candidates must submit a statement (maximum 500 words), as a part of the application, summarizing how they meet criterion (5).

(i) This award is selected through Financial Aid & Awards, NOT by the Faculty of Engineering.
(ii) Students must apply for this scholarship through Aurora Student.
(iii) Candidates may apply and receive this scholarship more than once, providing they meet the criteria.
(iv) Annual application opens July 1 and closes October 1.

If there are no qualified applicants in Engineering, the scholarship will be offered to an undergraduate student who:

(a) is enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load)
(b) in at least the third year of a degree program in order of preference - Geology, Computer Science or Medicine and otherwise meets criteria (1), (4) and (5).
