Aaron Akman Scholarship In Engineering

To mark the 80th birthday of Mr. Aaron Akman, Mr. Charles O. Swartz has donated funds to The University of Manitoba to endow one scholarship annually which will consist of the income of the fund.

This scholarship is offered annually for award to a student who has completed the full regular course of the third year in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Manitoba, with clear standing in all subjects and a sessional grade point average of not less than 3.0 and who registers in the next ensuing session for the fourth year of his/her course.

This scholarship will be awarded to the student with highest standing in the course. In the event that there is no qualified student in the third year of the course in Mechanical Engineering, the scholarship will be awarded to a third year student in one of the other Departments of Engineering, at the discretion of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

If for any reason the winner of this award does not register at the next ensuing session for the fourth year of his course in Engineering, the award will revert to the next qualified candidate. If for any reason the purpose for which this trust fund is established cannot be met, the Board of Governors shall have power, after consultation with the donor, if he is living, to modify the terms of the award in such a way as to conform as closely as possible to the purposes of the donor.
