Major and Mrs. J.L. Charles have established a fund to support an annual award for engineering students at the University of Manitoba. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to the fund. The available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship to an undergraduate student who:

(1) is a Canadian citizen;
(2) is registered full-time in the fourth year of study in the Faculty of Engineering;
(3) has displayed qualities of initiative and leadership;
(4) has worked at least two months in Canada’s Northland.

Applications shall include information on activities especially in engineering matters, plans for future in engineering, account of previous Northland experience, and concept of the Northland. The scholarship will normally be tenable in the December following application.

The selection committee will be the Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards Committee of the Faculty of Engineering.
